Obituary

Steve was born on August 10th, 1955 in Hillsboro Oregon. He graduated from Hillsboro Highschool in 1973. He attended Clackamas community college on a full athletic scholarship for his talent in baseball. During his time at Clackamas, he won the Golden Glove award in 1974-1975 and the All-American award for Oregon that same year.
1976-1977 he went to University of Wyoming under an athletic scholarship as starting first baseman. After leaving Wyoming, he joined the Montreal Expo Organization for a short period of time and went on to play in a triple A, semi pro baseball league for the Black Sox in Oregon.
In 1980 he joined a local Men’s Slow pitch softball team. During the 15 plus years of playing Men’s softball, he made many long-lasting friendships, traveled to 100’s of tournaments, and often helped his team take first place. He won many awards during this time such as MVP and Golden Glove. Nothing got by Steve on first base.
Steve also loved to bowl and was a member of a league in Beaverton with his dad Robert and brother Bob. He later joined a bowling league in Hillsboro with more friends and family including his sons Brenton and Nolan.
He retired from the Oregon Labor’s union in 2011 due to health issues. He learned to enjoy spending more time indoors by playing Cards, Marbles and boardgames with family and friends. He loved spending time with Tyce and was honored to call him his grandson as well as his mother Sarah, his daughter-in-law. He considered them part of his family.
Golf was another sport he loved and was still able to golf on occasion. Last summer his son Nolan took him golfing on Father’s Day by helping him stand at the tee. His swing was close to perfect. Steve was truly an amazing athlete and excelled at any sport he tried.
He loved all sports including Hunting, Fishing, and camping with friends and family in their motorhome. He was able to float down the Clackamas River in a Kayak with his wife Roxane and Son Brenton for his birthday last August.
Through Steve’s medical struggles, he always remained positive. It never changed his sweet, kind, and loving nature. He stood strong through his struggles and never let it get him down. He was an amazing father to both his boys, Brenton and Nolan and a wonderful Husband to his wife Roxane of 42 years.
He was truly a man that led by example
