Obituary
St. Paul — Annette (Davis) Smith was born in Woodburn on December 11, 1942 and left us near the same location on January 27, 2022. Annette, and her husband Jerry, had four children: Anthony Smith, Sarah Federico, Jamie Smith and Joy Hurley. She was an amazing grandmother to eleven and a great grandmother to one. Annette had a fulfilling life as a mother, educator, child advocate and world traveler.
Growing up on Arbor Grove Road she attended St. Paul Schools and graduated high school in 1960. Throughout high school she belonged to the Buckarettes Dance Team and was awarded Marion County Dairy Princess in 1961. Annette and Jerry's journey started when they married on October 20th, 1962 at St. Paul Catholic Church. After their honeymoon they moved to Cherry Point, NC where Jerry continued his service in the U.S.
Marine Corps. In 1964 the young couple returned to Oregon, settling in St. Paul, where they would reside the rest of their lives.
In the fall of 1980 Annette became a teacher's aid at the Ninety-One School in Hubbard, Oregon. She continued her interests in education and obtained her Bachelor's in Education from Western Oregon State College in 1984. She was hired at St. Paul Elementary School in the fall of 1984 and taught K-2nd grade until she retired in 2002.
She volunteered as a CASA volunteer, St. Paul Rodeo member and Clara Woodruff Scholarship Committee member. Annette loved sewing, the arts, and outdoor activities including walking, gardening, traveling and the St. Paul Rodeo.
Annette was preceded in death by her son Jamie and brothers Joseph and Donald.
She is survived by her sister Marion Piper, husband Jerry, son Anthony (wife, Jamie Sewell), daughter Sarah (husband, Dominic Federico), Joy (husband, Alex Hurley) eleven grand children and 1 great grandchild.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Rosary will begin 30 minutes prior to 10AM funeral service at St. Paul Catholic Church.
