Obituary

Elaine Marie Duyck, 82, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away Thursday evening, March 1, 2018 at the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro. Services to be announced.

Elaine was born on February 24, 1936 on the family farm in Verboort. She was the second of three children born to Justin and Helen (Herb) Crunican. She was raised in Verboort and attended Visitation Grade School . She graduated from St. Mary's of the Valley High School with the Class of 1954.

She met her future husband, Vernon Duyck, while at a wedding dance. following an two year courtship they married on December 28, 1954 in Verboort. They started their life on Elaine's family farm were they had ten children; John, Catherine, Leo, Jean, Donna, Randal, Mark, Patricia, Chris and Diane.

Elaine was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She helped with the family business as a field boss, calf feeder, tractor driver and general helper. Elaine also enjoyed gardening, canning, and traveling to Rockaway beach were they had a home. She was a talented seamstress and did embroidery. She loved the Christmas season and enjoyed cooking for her big family. Elaine also traveled but mostly to visit family some of her adventures took her to the east coast, Hawaii and California.

She is preceded in death by a daughter; Diane Lux, a grandson; Christopher Lux, her parents and a brother; Fr. James Crunican

She is survived by her loving husband; Vernon, nine children and their spouses; John and Laurie Duyck of Naches, WA, Catherine and Gary Thompson of Hillsboro, Leo and Karen Duyck of Verboort, Jean and David Lux of Cornelius, Donna and David Heesacker of Verboort, Randy and Ignolia Duyck of Verboort, Mark Duyck and his husband, Steven Cassell both of Portland, Patricia and Gary Freitas of Verboort, Chris Duyck of Verboort, a son-in-law; Frank Lux of Hillsboro, a sister and brother-in-law; Linda and David Holmbo of Dallas, OR., twenty five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
