Vern Clair Evers, 77, of Beaverton died Thursday morning, February 23, 2012 at the Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland.
A reception celebrating Vern's life will be held at St Francis of Assisi Grade School; 39135 NW Harring ton Rd.in Roy, Oregon at 2:00 pm Saturday March 3rd.
Vern was born on October 30, 1934 in Verboort, OR. He was one of fifteen children born to Albert A. and Mary J. (Hermens) Evers.
He was raised and received his education in Verboort attending Visitation Grade school and Verboort High School graduating with the Class of 1952.
He met his future wife, Dixie Baughman while attending 4H meetings. They were married on December 5, 1953 in Hillsboro, OR. Following their marriage they made their home in Orenco until they moved to Beaverton in 1958 where they made their home.
Vern worked as a farmer for his folks and siblings, as a logger in his younger years, and worked 42 years at ESCO before retiring in 1995. Among his interest he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was always very social and could always provide a joke for every occasion. He was an avid gardener, an excellent breakfast cook and was very proud of all of his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings; Anna, Edmund, Delbert and Harry
Survivors include his loving wife; Dixie of the family home, five children and their spouses; Rob and Val Evers of Verboort, OR, Dan Evers of St Helens, OR, Sherry and Tom Hertel of Sheridan, OR, Shaun Evers of Keizer, OR, Lisa and Curt Kemper of Sherwood, OR, ten siblings Ignatius, Pete, Alvin, Eugene, Neon, Joseph and Frederick Evers, Florence Herinckx, Agnes Oblander and Norma Sue Peters, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
