Obituary

Raymond J. Lucero, 74, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Tuesday morning, May 8, 2012, at The Grove Assisted Living Facility in Forest Grove.

 

RAYMOND J. LUCERO was born July 25, 1937 in Montrose, Colorado, the son of the late Ben and Annie Lucero. He was raised and received his education in the Montrose community, having graduated with Montrose High School Class of 1955.

 

He served one enlistment in the United States Airforce during the Korean Conflict until receiving his honorable discharge.

 

Raymond was united in marriage to Geneievive Helen Duran in 1958 in Montrose, Colorado. Following their marriage they resided in Montrose, Colorado until 1968, they moved to Comner City, Colorado, then to The Dalles, Oregon in 1974. He moved to Washington County in 1986 where he has resided since.

 

He had worked as a social worker in Wasco County, in The Dalles for several years and later as a social worker for Washington County in Hillsboro for several years.

 

Among his special interests Raymond enjoyed horses and fishing.

 

He was a member of the Catholic Church.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two sons, Jamie "Ace' Lucero, on October 31, 1993 and Kenneth Eric "Kitty" Lucero on September September 23, 1995 and his wife Geneievive Lucero, on November 30, 2011.

 

Survivors include his six six children and their spouses, Debra Lucero and Jerry Hankins, of Salem, Oregon; Sandra Lucero and Jesse Spino, of The Dalles, Oregon; Mary and Jerry Allison, of The Dalles, Oregon; Bennie "Ben" and Dana Lucero, of Sherwood, Oregon; Gina and Dave Barrett, of Eugene, Oregon; and Raymond Lucero, Jr., of Beaverton, Oregon; his sister; Linda Williams, of Washington; his two brothers, Wilbur Williams, of Grants Pass, Oregon and Eugene Lucero, of Phoenix, Arizona.

 

Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
