Obituary

Funeral services for Albert William Peters, 84, of Cornelius were yesterday at 3 p.m., at Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. The Rev. James Harris of the above church officiated. Recitation of the Holy Rosary was Sunday evening at the church.
Mr. Peters died Thursday at Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro. He was born Jan. 19, 1897, at Verboort, son of John and Cornelia (Hermens) Peters. He married Catherine Hillecke on June 14, 1922, at St. Matthew's Church in Hillsboro.
He had lived in Cornelius for nine years and was a member of St. Alexander's Catholic Church there and Knights of Columbus in Hillsboro. He also belonged to the World War I Veterans, Banks Barracks.
Born and raised in Verboort, he attended schools there before serving in the Army during World War I. After the age of 25 he worked his entire life on the family farm. Prior to that he was the farm foreman at St. Mary's Boys Home in Beaverton.
Surviving are his wife and six sons, Norbert of Cornelius, Wilfred of Forest Grove, Leander of Cornelius and Lawrence, Paul and Kenneth of Forest Grove; five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Anna Marie) Moore of Forest Grove, Mrs. Henry (Frances) Schmidlin of Banks, Mrs. Vernon (Helen) Elliott of Forest Grove, Mrs. John (Bernadette) Reimers of Hillsboro and Mrs. August (Kathleen) Sahlfeld of Hillsboro; brother, William of Banks, and sisters, Minnie Peters of Hillsboro and Mrs. Julius (Josephine) Vanderzanden of Hillsboro.
Mr. Peters had 56 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son in 1933, and a daughter in 1943.

Forest Grove Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
