Bruce Edward Porter, 80, a resident of the Portland area, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland.

Rite of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Verboort on Saturday, January 19th.

Bruce was born on August 28, 1938 in Hillsboro, OR. He was the oldest of nine children born to Edward Cyril and Dorothy Agnes (Crunican) Porter. Bruce was raised on the family farm until the age of seven when he moved to Fairview Home for Boys in Salem. He later lived in and around the Pacific North West and settled in Portland in 2008.

Because of his disabilities Bruce enjoyed a lot of things adult’s take for granted. He was always quick with a smile and a laugh. He was very smart when it came to historical dates and could recite them from memory. He loved to listen to country music especially Hank Williams. He collected all kinds of clocks and watches. He enjoyed his time spent with his family especially their lunches out. Bruce always greeted his loved ones with a big smile and his friendly demeanor. His favorite meal was a good traditional breakfast and he enjoyed shopping.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Paul, Steven and Vincent Porter.

He is survived by his five siblings and their spouses; Sandra and Mike Atkins of North Carolina, Charles and Joanne Porter of Dundee, William and Sherri Porter of Salem, Beth and Adel Sharaf of Portland, Joe and Sue Porter of Hillsboro, and many nieces and nephews.
