Robert W. “Bob” White, 88, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Thursday afternoon, March 8, 2018 at the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon.

ROBERT WELLINGTON WHITE was born September 9, 1929 in Oshkosh, Nebraska, the son of the late Wellington Ira White and Pearl Inez (Kingery) White. He was raised and received his education in the Oshkosh community, having been a graduate of the Oshkosh High School Class of 1945.

He was united in marriage to Patricia A. Van Dyke on July 23, 1949 in the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort, Oregon. They celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary this past July. Following their marriage they have since resided in the Forest Grove community, the past thirteen years having been guest residents at the Homestead Retirement Community. They also owned homes in Rockaway Beach, Oregon and Yuma, Arizona and spent many years enjoying the friends and activities in each location.

Bob had worked for the Oregon State Forestry Service in Forest Grove for many years, until he retired as a supervisor at the age of sixty-two years old.

He was an active member of the St. Alexander Parish in Cornelius, the Knights of Columbus and the Forest Grove Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2440 in Forest Grove.

Among his special interests he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, pitching horse shoes and playing golf. Bob also was an avid bowler, having bowled a 300 game at Rainbow Lanes in Forest Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wellington and Pearl White; his brother, Arthur White and his sister, Marguerite Reitz.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Pat” White, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; his son and daughter-in-law, David White and Michelle DeLaVergne White, of Beaverton, Oregon and his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jim Wright, of Hillsboro, Oregon. He is also survived by a brother, Byron White, of Forest Grove, Oregon.

Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Brannon Wellington White, of Portland, Oregon; Brittany Elisabeth White, of Portland, Oregon; Michelle Jenne’ Foley, and her husband, Tim, of Andover, Massachusetts and Kristen Marie Wright, of Somerville, Massachusetts; his two great-granddaughters, Grace Marie Foley and Hannah Kathryn Foley and several nieces and nephews.
