|ALAN BARRY GREENE was born November 25, 1944 in Forest Grove, Oregon, the son of Wilfred and Dora (Vanderzanden) Greene. He was raised in the Verboort community. Alan attended Visitation School and graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1963. He later attended Clackamas Community College for two years. He served one enlistment in the Oregon National Guard. Alan was united in marriage to Karen Mary Meeuwsen on November 28, 1975 in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later blessed at the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. Following their marriage they have made their home in the Forest Grove community. Alan and Karen would have celebrated their 29th Wedding Anniversary this coming November. He worked for Clean Water Services for thirty years, first as a truck driver and later as an operator at the Durham and Rock Creek water treatment plants until May of 2003 when he retired. Alan was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, having attended Visitation Parish in Verboort. He was a former member of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2440. Alan was a member of the Banks Booster Club and for many years served as the time keeper for the Banks high school football games, receiving his nickname of “Father Time”. Among his interests, Alan enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting the Oregon Coast. Over the years, he had coached baseball and Little Guy football in Banks. He was a football season ticket holder for the Oregon State Beavers. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Lee Greene. Alan passed away July 19, 2004 at that Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro. He is survived by his wife, Karen Mary Greene of the family home in Forest Grove; four sons and daughters-in-law, Keith E. and Darla Meeuwsen of St. Helens; Kurt A. and Laura Meeuwsen of Hillsboro; Kevin A. and Linda Elder of Hillsboro; and Michael W. and Danika Greene of Forest Grove; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Sherratt of Hillsboro and Judy and Dan Walker of Estacada; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard "Dick” Greene of Estacada and Ellis “Bud” and Darlene Greene of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Paul, Joel, Rachel, Emily, Aaron and Kellie Meeuwsen and Nathan and Matthew Elder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
