Gerald Otto “Jerry” Kemper, 87, Hillsboro, died March 20, 2005, at Tuality Community Hospital. A memorial mass will be Tuesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 447 SE Third Ave. .; Rosary services will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the church. A reception will follow the rosary in the Costelloe Center at St. Matthew Catholic Grade School. Private interment will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Verboort. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Kemper, Hillsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Steward, Vancouver, Wash.; three step-children and their spouses, Beverly and Jerry Burger, Sauvie Island, Bob and Arlene Hooker, Deer Island, and Nancy and Joe Olsen, Gresham; a step-daughter-in-law, Jill Hooker, Vernonia; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Jesse, Forest Grove.
