CORVALLIS - Linda Kay Bowers passed away on October 20, 2023, of end stage ovarian cancer. She was 70 years old. In recent years she has faced Normal Pressure hydrocephalus and end stage dementia. Linda was born in Charleston, South Carolina on September 5, 1953, to Eugene "Gene" Joseph George and Esther Irene Merritt along with 4 other siblings. She attended Willamette High School and Lane Community College, both in Eugene, Oregon. Later she went on to briefly marry Harold Eugene Bowers on May 15, 1973, and had two children from that marriage, a son Christopher (1972) and a daughter Sherry (1974). Shortly after her divorce she met David Hoyt Esmond who both raised their family in Corvallis Oregon and eventually went on to have another daughter, Michelle (1991). Linda worked as a cook at The Corvallis Care Center and The Heart of the Valley and then worked for Bon Appetite at Hewlett Packard before eventually retiring. During this same time, she also volunteered many hours to the Gleaners delivering Meals on Wheels and loved to crochet, garden, camp and take trips to the Oregon Coast.

Linda is survived by two brothers John George, Dan George and a sister, Margot Pichler. Her parents and brother Gary George are deceased. She is also survived by her son Christopher Bowers, her daughter Sherry Vandehey and son-in-law Scott and her daughter Michelle Esmond. She has 7 grandchildren; Ashley Dvorak, Alysse Vandehey, Christopher Grail, Brooklyn Vandehey, Nicholas Vandehey, Kaira Vallotton and Alyira Vallotton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families in Alaska and other states. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a loving and gentle person and is now resting in the arms of her savior.

Linda will be interred at Visitation Cemetery in Verboort, Oregon with a small graveside service to be announced at a later date.
