Obituary

Alexander "Alex" James Nemec, 18, a resident of the Newberg community passed away on October 10, 2020 at his home.

Alex will be laid to rest at Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Verboort, OR

Alex was born on October 12, 2001 in Portland Oregon. He was the youngest of seven children born to Jerry "Duane" Nemec and Cynthia (Thibert) Nemec. He was raised in Forest Grove and attended Cornelius Grade School and Tom McCall Upper Elementary School in Forest Grove. He later was enrolled at the Forest Grove Community School and Forest Grove High School. While in school Alex enjoyed playing sports, basketball, baseball as a participant of the Forest Grove Unified Sports. He especially LOVED playing football and being part of the Forest Grove High School JV Team.

Alex was known for his quick humor, and fun loving personality. As the youngest in his family he felt he was the tag along on many of his sister's outings, "baby brother" was a label he did not agree with, "Little man" was more his style. Alex was a good singer, liked to cook, but was adamant about his McDonalds, #1 Big Mac meal. He loved comic books, like to spend time with his family, whether it was in person or on the internet playing video games. Alex had a quiet way of listening to his loved ones and asking questions. He loved his dog Bella, a Russian turtle "Spike" and his two dogs Chunk and Midget.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers; Francis "Fritz" Thibert, Delvin Nemec and a brother; Michael Nemec.

He is survived by his father and step-mother; Duane and Karen Nemec of Newberg, his mother Cynthia Nemec of Forest Grove, his grandmothers; Mary Thibert and Donna Nemec, five siblings; Christopher Nemec of Portland, Teresa Nemec of Aloha, Darian Nemec of Forest Grove, Shyla Nemec and her companion Lexi Wylde both of Klamath Falls, Erica Nemec of Forest Grove and a nephew; Virgil of Klamath Falls.

A celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2021.
