Karen Loraine Nemec, 62, a resident of the Newberg community passed away on April 21, 2022 at her home

Karen was born on May 18, 1959 in Tualatin, OR She was the youngest of four children born to Robert and June (Taylor) Barnes. She was raised in Tualatin and attended school in Sherwood graduating with the Class of 1976.

She met her husband, Dan Dietz and they married in 1996. They made their home in N.E. Portland and had one daughter, Sandra. They later divorced. She met her future husband, Jerry "Duane" Nemec through work. They soon became friends and they married after a two year courtship on August 24, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home in Aloha until 2020 when they moved to Newberg.

Karen was a professional transportation specialist for the Portland School district until 2008 when she started working for Tri Met. She retired after working over 12 years she enjoyed reading, watching TV and visiting with her family. She was an excellent cook, loved deep sea fishing and visiting the beach. When she was younger she loved to ride horses and play billiards.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and a step son; Alex.

She is survived by her loving husband, Duane, a daughter Sandra, four step children a brother, Bob Barnes and one granddaughter.
