Donna Lee Smith, 72, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on Monday morning, April 30, 2018 at her home.
Donna was born on March 4, 1946 in Portland, OR She was one of five children born to Raymond and Margaret (McDonald) Claypool. She was raised in Vernonia and moved with her family to Salem, OR when she was 14 years old.
Following high school Donna lived in Portland in the 1960's then moved to Salem in 1982. She met her future husband, Terry Smith, through mutual friends. Following a three year courtship they married on August 12, 2000. They made their home on the Smith family farm.
Donna was a loving and devoted mother to her two children, Cheri and Kelly. She was a single mother and enjoyed working as an administrative assistant for different businesses including, collection agencies, mortgage companies and real estate. She retired in 2009. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, crocheting and crafts. She was also fond of the outdoors camping and fishing. Family was her passion and she loved the holidays when they all came together.
She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; Raymond, Donald and Robert.
She is survived by her loving husband, Terry, two children and a son-in-law; Cheri and Bo Lindemann of Stayton, Kelly Ramsey of Salem, a brother; Kenneth Claypool, four grandchildren; Zach, Josh, Devon, Dylan and a nephew; Raymond Claypool.
