Obituary
Terry Lee Smith, 75, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on July 1, 2021, at his home.
Terry was born on February 11, 1946, in Coos Bay, OR He was the four of five children born to Ervin and Leona (Hess) Smith. He was raised on the family farm in Forest Grove and attended Banks High School graduating with the Class of 1965.
He enlisted into the US Army and served his country in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1967.
He lived on the family farm all his life, Terry always joked he was a poor gentleman farmer, but his life on the farm centered around the care for his parents and managing the farm. He met his future wife, Donna (Claypool) Ramsey, through his older sister, Mary. They dated for three years and married on August 12, 2000, in Verboort, OR. They made their home on the Smith family farm in Forest Grove. Terry and Donna centered their lives around their family. They followed their grandchildren’s sporting events, visiting close friends, hosting holidays and special occasions.
Terry had worked as a cabinet maker for Diamond Cabinets for over 35 years retiring in 2008. He enjoyed flying his airplanes taking off from his private airstrip on the farm. He liked to volunteer at his church, Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort at the Altar Society and at the Annual Verboort Sausage Dinner. Terry had a big heart, a loving and kind personality.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife; Donna after 18 years of marriage, his sisters; Mary Perkins and Donna Riechow.
He is survived by his two children and a son-in-law; Cheri and Bo Lindemann both of Stayton, OR Kelly Ramsey of Salem, OR, his siblings and their spouses; Linda and Mel Vanderzanden of Banks, Jackie and Laurence Peters of Forest Grove, Brother-in-law; Bill Riechow of Perry Dale, OR and four grandchildren; Zach, Josh, Devon, and Dylan.
