Obituary

GENEVIEVE JOSEPHINE VanGRUNSVEN was born September 6, 1919 at Hillsboro, Oregon, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Rose (Nist) Seus. She was raised and received her education in the Hillsboro and Verboort communities.
She was united in marriage to Henry A. "Hank" VanGrunsven on April 11, 1940 at Hillsboro, Oregon. They celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary this past April. Following their marriage they made their home in the Cornelius community until June 1, 1943 when they moved to their present home in Verboort.
Mrs. VanGrunsven was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort, as well as a member of the Verboort Altar Society and Hillsboro Rosary Makers. Among her special interests, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. She had a special love for her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Seus; and a sister, Mary Lahti.
Mrs. VanGrunsven died Tuesday, March 1, 1994 at her home, following a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband, Hank, of the family home in Verboort; ten children and their spouses, Ron and Anita VanGrunsven of Verboort, Oregon; Elizabeth "Betty". Vandecoevering of Verboort, Oregon; Linda and Jim Spiering of Roy, Oregon; Jim and Willy VanGrunsven of Beaverton, Oregon; Ken and Renita VanGrunsven of Verboort, Oregon; Joanne and Ken Vandehey of Roy, Oregon; Patty Soto of Beaverton, Oregon; Barbara and Bob Jansen of Hillsboro, Oregon; Mary and Jerry Morse of Aloha, Oregon; and Tom and Sheila VanGrunsven of Verboort, Oregon; three brothers and a sister-in-law, John Seus of Hillsboro, Oregon; Ed Seus of Portland, Oregon; and Bernie and Darlene Seus of Cornelius, Oregon; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha and Jerry Herb of Forest Grove, Oregon; Dorothy and Al Vuylsteke of Cornelius, Oregon; Helen Thompson of Hillsboro, Oregon; and Arne Lahti of Mesa, Arizona.
Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
