Florence Anna Crop, 99, a former resident of the Verboort community currently of St. Helens passed away on November 29, 2020

Florence "Aunt Flossie" to her beloved nieces and nephews was born on July 25, 1921 in Portland, OR she was the youngest of three children born to John and Anna (Kundinger) Markee. She was raised in Timber, OR attended the one room school at Glendale and Forest Grove High School graduating with the Class of 1939. Florence went to work as a telephone operator following high school an occupation she had up until 1942.

She met her future husband, Alvin Crop through her sister, Mildred. Mildred just so happened to be dating Alvin brother at the time. They soon began courting and they married on October 10, 1942. They followed Alvin's service to his country in the Army Air Corps which took them to Kentucky, Texas and Tennessee. When he was discharged they moved back to Washington County and settled in Verboort in 1952 where they raised four children, Cathy, Harlan, Bruce and Rick. Alvin passed away in 1983 and Florence continued to live in Verboort up until the spring of 2019 when she moved to St Helens to be closer to her daughter.

Florence was a loving and devoted mother to her children and family. When her children were growing up she was involved in their school, either through volunteering for fundraisers or through their church. She was a longtime volunteer at the Verboort Dinner first volunteering at the steam table and then as chairwoman of the candy booth. Florence was a master baker, great cook and loved to decorate cakes. She was an avid Blazer and Mariners fan like to talk "shop" with her son-in-law Terry about the upcoming season. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Alvin in their RV and then with her traveling buddy to Hawaii, Europe, and local trips to Ashland.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, her son, Rick and her siblings; Mildred Crop and Arthur Markee.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Cathy and Terry Joeckel of St Helens, Harlan Crop of North Plains, OR, Bruce and Jana Crop of Scappoose, five grandchildren and their spouses; Jason and Ally Joeckel of St Helens, Jarrett and Keri Joeckel of Frisco, TX, Richard and Theresa Crop of Hillsboro, Chris and Danielle Crop of Phoenix, Erin Crop of Vancouver, WA and six great grandchildren.
