Obituary

Dolores "Lori" Ann Kemper, 88, a longtime resident of Gales Creek passed away on October 5, 2023 surrounded by family at her home.

Dolores was born on October 18, 1934 in Forest Grove, OR.  She was the third of six children born to Anthony and Marie (Krieger) Geisbers.  She was raised in Verboort and attended Visitation Grade School and Verboort High School graduating with the Class of 1953.  While growing up Dolores picked berries, beans and cucumbers. Before graduation she worked at the TipTop restaurant in Forest Grove.

She married Matthew Kemper, the boy across the road, on June 12, 1953 at Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort.  They made their home near Banks, OR until moving to their 80 acre farm on Parson Loop.

Dolores was a loving and devoted mother to her eight children.  She was also a farmer's wife and helped manage the family farm.  She was a field boss, picker, tractor and truck driver.  She liked working outside and teaching her children the value of a good day's work.  She loved to garden, canning, baking and going out for Chinese food to celebrate her siblings' birthdays. She was a loving caregiver to her daughter, Michelle.  She was also a volunteer at her parish helping with the Altar Society making dinners, cleaning the church and chairing the children's games and working and serving salad at the dinner.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Michelle and two siblings, Eldon and John Geisbers and a son-in-law, Norman Bishop.

She is survived by her loving husband, Matthew, seven children and their spouses, Keith and Debbie Kemper of Buxton, Craig and Gloria Kemper of Lafayette, OR, Denise Bishop of Hillsboro, Debby Welch of Forest Grove, Kevin Kemper of Forest Grove, Paul Kemper of Forest Grove and John Kemper of Forest Grove.  Also surviving are her three siblings and their spouses, Gilbert and Nadine Geisbers, Bernita Goodrich and Dennis and Sharon Geisbers, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
