Francis 'Frank' Paul Herinckx
Obituary
Francis "Frank" Paul Herinckx, 72, a resident of the Hillsboro community passed away on August 14, 2021 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Frank was born on October 24, 1948 in Hillsboro, OR He was one of ten children born to Joseph and Gladys (Kindel) Herinckx. He was raised on the family farm in Verboort and attended Visitation Catholic Grade School and graduated from Banks High School graduating with the Class of 1966. He was very active in the Banks FFA thru High School.
He enlisted into the US Army and served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969. While in the Army Frank was awarded a Purple Heart in addition to: The Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Frank met his future wife, Vickie Leichtman, through his cousin, David. They soon began dating and following a three year courtship they married on September 27, 1969 at St Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro. They made their home in Hillsboro and raised three children; Pamela, Mark and Kimberly.
Frank worked as a meat cutter all of his life. He started at Verboort Sausage Company in Verboort and then moved to Kummers in Hillsboro. He retired from Interstate Meat in 2011. Frank loved spending time with his family. He cherished family summer picnics, group camping trips, and the annual sibling Christmas party. He enjoyed cooking, smoking meats and BBQ. He was a master gardener and loved to tinker with his tractor. Frank and Vickie would often take their children fishing and camping throughout the PNW. When Hillsboro hosted the destruction derby Frank worked in the pit crew for longtime friend, Art VanDyke. When his children began getting more involved in school Frank was always there to help in 4H, FFA and any sporting event.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings; Marilyn Bernards, Debra Jane Vaandering and Gerald Herinckx
He is survived by his loving wife; Vickie, three children and their spouses; Pamela and John Davis of Iredell, TX, Mark and Tina Herinckx of Silverlake, OR, Kimberly Herinckx of Brawley, CA, six siblings; Ron, Dick, Dale, Jim and Mike Herinckx, Tina Vandehey two in-laws; John Bernards and Rosie Herinckx and three grandchildren; Blake, Lane and Kaylee and numerous nieces and nephews.
