Theresa Marguerite Porter Herinckx , 84 years old, passed away on Monday February 13,2023, at her home.
She was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia July 2, 1938 to Horace Payson Porter and Madeline Musante Porter. She grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She attended Montfort Academy through the eighth grade and then graduated from Stafford High School in 1956. After graduation from Stafford High School she attended Saint Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Maryland for two years. She also attended night classes at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
She met her husband, Richard, on a blind date when he was serving in the Army in Bowling Green, Virginia. They were married October 7, 1961 in Saint William of York Catholic Church in Stafford Virginia. Richard and Theresa then honeymooned across the country. When reaching Oregon Richard went to work for a short time on his uncle’s dairy farm. He then went to work at Tektronix. The day after they reached Oregon Theresa applied for a job at Tuality Community Hospital. She worked first on the switchboard and then she worked as a transcriptionist in Medical Records. She worked at the hospital for forty-one years, retiring in 2003. Prior to working at Tuality Community Hospital Theresa worked at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Theresa loved retirement. She and her husband went on several cruises and a few road trips. They also went to Europe a couple of times. She also got involved with a love for roses and had about 50 different varieties. Theresa also loved to play pinochle. She belonged to a neighborhood pinochle card club. She played in that card club for over thirty years.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Richard of 61 years. She is also survived by a son, John and his wife Patti, and son, Tim and his wife Karen. She is survived also by two adorable grandchildren, a grandson Colton Herinckx and a grand-daughter Natali Herinckx Smith, sweet step granddaughter Shanon, and five beautiful step grandchildren Stephani, Paul, Jayden, Adalynn and Devin. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Stern, in Queensbury, New York and many nieces and nephews, and also sisters-in-law and brothers’ in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Christopher, a brother John Porter and sisters Frances Porter and Mary Porter.
