Petronella (Hermens) Evers. She was raised and received her early education in the Verboort community and later graduated from the Forest Grove High School Class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Vernon E. Meeuwsen on October 18, 1958 in the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. They celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary this past October. Following their marriage they built their present home on N.W. Kemper Road, where they have resided since. Barbara Jean worked in the offices of both Gray & Company and later Flavorland Foods in Forest Grove for several years, until she retired. She was a lifelong member of the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. Among her special interests she enjoyed sewing, quilting and playing cards. Barbara Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mitchell Meeuwsen; and her four brothers, Ernie Evers, Robert Evers, Francis Evers and Willis Evers. Survivors include her husband, Vernon E. Meeuwsen, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; her four children and their spouses, Robin and Patrick Shannon, of Dallas, Texas; Paul and Marianne Meeuwsen, of Kennewick, Washington; Linda and Geoffrey Barnes, of Kennewick, Washington; and William Meeuwsen, of West Richland, Washington; and her four sisters, Lucille Kempen, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Sister Anna Evers, S.S.M.O., of Beaverton, Oregon; Margaret Landauer, of Forest Grove, Oregon; and Janice Spath of Forest Grove, Oregon. Also surviving are her five grandchildren and a spouse, Erin and Ryan Hutton, Allison Conner, Jacob Meeuwsen, Garrett Barnes and Erik Barnes, and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Visitation Cemetery, in her memory.
