ARTHUR JOSEPH "ART" VERBOORT was born February 8, 1911 in Verboort, Oregon, the son of William A. Verboort and Nellie (VanDyke) Verboort. He was raised and received his education in the Verboort community.
He was united in marriage to Janet A. Evers on June 1, 1937 in McMinnville, Oregon. They celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary this past June. Following their marriage they have made their home in the Verboort community.
Mr. Verboort worked for the Birds Eye Cannery for fortythree years. He began working for the cannery at the age of seventeen and later became a driver for their Northwest deliveries. His truck route included Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho, until 1971 when he retired at the age of sixty.
He was a lifelong member of the Visitation Parish in Verboort. Among his special interests he enjoyed fishing, gardening and card playing.
Mr. Verboort was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Arnet Verboort in infancy in 1955; three brothers, Cecil Verboort, Steven Verboort and Leslie Verboort; and a sister, Christine Haynes.
Mr. Verboort died Sunday afternoon, February 17, 1991 at the Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro, following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Janet, of the family home in Verboort; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lois J. and Farren Kohler of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; Nancy E. and Eugene Braukman of Cornelius, Oregon; and Carol A. and David Leuthold of Tillamook, Oregon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence A. and Judy Verboort of Forest Grove, Oregon; and Todd A. and Laurie Verboort of Wilsonville, Oregon; two brothers, Wilfred A. Verboort of Mt. Angel, Oregon; and Elmer T. Verboort of Verboort, Oregon; and a sister, Mary C. Jepson of Cornelius, Oregon.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Tracy Roe and Eric Braukman both of Hillsboro, Oregon; Wendy St. Marie of Beaverton, Oregon; Dawn Braukman of Cornelius, Oregon; Jill Lane, Jason Sagar and Mark Leuthold all of Tillamook, Oregon; Janell Sagar of Portland, Oregon; Kevin Verboort of Bothell, Washington; Bradley Verboort and Jerod Verboort both of Forest Grove, Oregon; Katie Kohler of Rancho Palos Verdes, California; and Sarah Verboort of Wilsonville, Oregon; one great-grandchild, Stephanie Lane of Tillamook, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.

Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held in the Visitation Parish Center in Verboort.
