Obituary
Robert F. "Bob" Lepschat, 80, a resident of the Forest Grove community died Wednesday morning, August 13, 2008 at his home.
A Holy Rosary will be said at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 18, 2008 to be held at the Visitation Catholic Church; 4285 NW Visitation Rd in Verboort.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort.
A reception will follow the Memorial Mass to be held at the Parish Center in Verboort.
A committal service will take place at the Visitation Catholic Cemetery on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 2:30 PM.
Bob was born on April 19, 1928 in Banks, Oregon. He was one of seven children born to William and Josephine (Bernards) Lepschat. He was raised on the family farm in Verboort and attended Verboort grade school and graduated from Central Catholic high school in 1947.
After graduation, he joined the US Merchant Marines and served his country in the Pacific Theater.
Following his service time Bob attended Pacific University and received Bachelors degree in Education in 1954 and later a Master of Education degree from Portland State University. Bob then applied this education to being a school teacher in California and throughout Northern Oregon having taught grades 4 thru 8. He retired as a teacher in 1988 after 34 years of service. Bob also was the proprietor of My Place Tavern in Forest Grove having owned it for 14 years. He enjoyed reading and learning about history. He traveled and his journeys often took him to places he had read about in his many history books. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing and cutting fire wood.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings; William Lepschat and Ethel Nordgren.
