Obituary

Lester P. Vandehey, 82, a resident of the Cornelius community passed away Sunday morning, April 9, 2017 at the Rosewood Assisted Living Home in Hillsboro.

Lester was born on April 29, 1934 in Verboort, OR. He was the only child born to Louis and Petronella (Giesbers) Vandehey. Lester was raised and received his education in Verboort.

At the age of 17 he was shot in a hunting accident that almost took his life. He was served his draft papers for the Korean War while in the hospital. He received a 4f discharge, but in time made a full recovery. 

Lester met his future wife, Lois Meeuwsen, while at a dance in Verboort. The following day Lester called her and took her on a date.  They courted for two years and were married on July 9, 1960 in Verboort.  They made their home off of Cornelius Schefflin Rd in Cornelius.

Lester had worked as a technician for Tektronix for over 37 years retiring in 1996. He enjoyed the outdoors which included hunting, fishing and camping. He was also an accomplished photographer, and enjoyed tinkering on almost anything.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife; Lois, three children and their spouses; Daniel and Dawn Vandehey of Cornelius, Andy and Connie Vandehey of Cornelius, Debbie and Gary Greenlee of Hillsboro, four grandchildren; Brandon Vandehey, Mitchel Vandehey, Breanna Greenlee and Byron Greenlee.
