Obituary

Marlene Jubelt-VanDyke, 82, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on Friday morning, May 25, 2017 at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro.

Marlene was born on May 21, 1935, in Hillsboro, OR. She was one of six children born to Charles and Agnes (Hermens) Vandehey. She was raised on the family farm in Verboort and attended Visitation Catholic Grade School in Verboort and later attended Verboort  High School graduating with the Class of 1953. Following high school Marlene began working as a teller in a local bank. She then moved to California and  became an airline flight attendant for Western Airlines.

While she was living in California, she met her future husband, LaRue Jubelt.  LaRue was " the boy next door"  in the apartment complex. Following a short courtship, they were married in 1960. They made their home and raised their family in Grover Beach, CA. LaRue passed away in 1999. She then reconnected with Richard "Dick"  VanDyke. This relationship was rekindled from their youth, and they were married in February of 2000 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. They made their home in Cornelius. On March 31, 2016, Dick passed away.

    Marlene was a loving and devoted mother to her three children, Shelly, Mark, and Lance. As  her children became school age, Marlene started working outside the home at Mid State Bank. Starting as a teller, she worked her way up to a Bank Budget Officer. She retired from banking in 1998. Marlene's family was her passion, she enjoyed family gatherings, holidays, and any excuse for a get together. She was also an accomplished cross stitcher, a master at card  playing, and collected Precious Moments. Marlene traveled, was a great pie baker and enjoyed reading. She was her children's #1 sport fan, attending ALL of their games and events, additionally she  was a supporter of her parish, Visitation Catholic Church, as she volunteered many hours with the Altar Society.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, LaRue Jubelt and Richard "Dick" VanDyke, her parents and two siblings; Gene Vandehey and Vera O'Meara.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses; Shelly and Michael Feakes of Cottonwood, CA, Mark Jubelt of Marina Del Rey, CA, Lance Jubelt of Arroyo Grande, CA, three siblings; Ellis Vandehey, Bob Vandehey and Loraine Voltz, five grandchildren; Emily, Taylor, Charlie, Devin, and Asher, her stepchildren and their spouses;  Rick and Lori VanDyke of Forest Grove, Rhonda and Darren Irwin of Scappoose, and four step grandchildren; Travis, Brett, Natalee, and Samantha, and many, many nieces and nephews.
