Obituary

Betty Louise Evers, 83, a resident of the North Plains community died, Friday evening, August 6, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the St Edward Catholic Church; 10990 NW 313th Ave in North Plains.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at St Edward Catholic Church in North Plains.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the
Funeral Mass to be held at the St Edward Parish Hall in North Plains.
A private interment will take place on at the Evers Family Cemetery in Verboort, OR.
Betty was born on January 24, 1927 on her family farm in North Plains. She was one of two children born to Joseph and Emma (Achen) Bernards. She was raised in North Plains and attended school at North Plains Elementary and then onto St Mary of the Valley High School graduating with the Class of 1946
She lived on the family farm all of her life. She had worked as a telephone operator for Bell Phone Company until her retirement in 1971. Betty then began providing care to her ailing father until his passing.
Betty met Harry Evers in the spring of 1980. They married on July 3, 1980 in Verboort, OR. Following their marriage they moved into her home in North Plains were they have lived since.
Betty was a very private person. She enjoyed her family, animals and gardening. She was involved with her church, St Edward Catholic Church, as a volunteer of the Altar Society.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her loving husband Harry Evers of the family home, her brother; Emmett Bernards of Portland, OR, three stepchildren and their spouses; Karl and Julie Evers of Forest Grove, OR, Sandy Evers of Tigard, OR, Grace Reynolds of Milwaukie, OR, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family suggests donations in Betty’s name to the Washington County Hospice.
