Debra Jane (Herinckx) Vaandering, 62, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends.\r

She was born on October 12, 1954 in Hillsboro OR. to Joseph J and Gladys (Kindel) Herinckx. She was proud to be the baby of ten children including seven brothers and two sisters. Debra was raised in a devout Catholic family in Verboort. She attended Verboort Grade School and graduated from Banks High School in 1972. As a young girl she worked at a variety of jobs including picking berries and vegetables. Then later she worked in childcare, at Gray & Co and Washington Federal Savings & Loan in Forest Grove.\r

Debra met her future husband, John Vaandering, in the berry fields. John's mother was the field boss and following a three year courtship they were married on May 17, 1975 in Verboort. They lived and raised their family of five in the Forest Grove area.\r

Her strong Catholic faith was the foundation of her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her six grandchildren. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning, card playing and beach combing.\r

Debra was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jerry Herinckx, and a sister, Marilyn Bernards.\r

She is survived by her loving husband, John, five children and their families; Nick and Melissa Vaandering with Henry, Alison & Andrew all of Forest Grove, Angela Vaandering of Forest Grove, Melissa and Joe Culligan with TJ, Owen and Kailey all of Portland, OR, Brenda Vaandering of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Vaandering of Tigard. Her siblings include brothers and their spouses; Ron and Jan Herinckx, Dick and Theresa Herinckx, Dale and Donna Herinckx, Jim and Dorie Herinckx, Frank and Vickie Herinckx, Mike Herinckx, her sister and spouse; Tina and Phil Vandehey, brother-in-law; John Bernards and sister-in-law; Rosie Herinckx.\r

Wilbur Peter \"Pete\" Jansen, 88, a longtime resident of the Verboort community passed away on Wednesday morning, September 21, 2016 at the Jennings McCall Assisted Living in Forest Grove.\r

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Visitation Catholic Church; 4285 NW Visitation Rd in Verboort.\r

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:00 a.m.\r

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception held in the parish center immediately following the service.\r

Rite of Christian Burial and Vault interment will be held at Visitation Catholic Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.\r

Pete was born on January 31, 1928 on the family farm in Verboort. He was one of nine children born to Albert and Dora (VanDyke) Jansen. He was raised on the family farm and attended Verboort Catholic Grade School and Verboort High School graduating with the Class of 1946.\r

He met his future wife, Irene McGinn at a church dance in Hillsboro. They soon began dating and on April 3, 1951 they were married at St Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Following their marriage they made their home and raised their family on the farm in Verboort. Irene passed away on March 13, 1989 and Pete continued to live on the farm until recently.\r

Pete was a dairyman all of his life.He owned and operated, with his wife, Wil-Rene Farms raising around 50 head of registered Guernsey cows while operating a 120 acre farm. In 2014, the farm was designated as an Oregon Century Farm. He enjoyed farming tremendously and working with his family. Pete was a 4-H leader of the Verboort Dairy Club and sponsored theShowmanship award at the Washington County Fair for over 15 years. Peteparticipated in dairy shows at the county, state, and national levels. In high school he played baseball for the Verboort Dutchman as a catcher and continued playing some semi pro ball. Irene and Pete square danced with the 4N8er's and enjoyed dancing in the Forester Hall (across the street from their home), Aloha Grange Hall,and throughout the state. They traveled to British Columbia, Hawaii, Mexico, and across the nation but Pete especially liked to take Sunday afternoon drives through the valley. He volunteered at his church as treasurer of the Visitation Catholic Cemetery (44 years) and served twice as chairman of the Verboort Sausage and Kraut Dinner.\r

He was a member of the Forest Grove Elks, Oregon Guernsey Breeders Association, and American Guernsey Association for many years. He also served as a district director on the All West / Select Sires board for 12 years. In addition, he spent four years as the manager of the Oregon Jersey Milk Co-op. He received several awards including the 1985 Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District Co-Operator of the Year and in 1997 received the Community Service Award from the Oregon Dairy Farmers Association.\r

Pete’s pride and joy was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved family gatherings, especially picnics and weiner roasts around the fire pit on the family farm!\r

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene, a daughter, Janet, eight siblings; Maurice, Larry, Gerve, Vern, Clarence, Mary Hafner, Arlene Herinckx and Martha Eberly.\r

He is survived by his seven children and their spouses; Mike and Sherry Jansen of Verboort, Patty and Byron Meadows of Salem, Linda and Bruce Heintz of Cedar Mill, Carolyn and Marv Vanaken of Forest Grove, Jackie and John Thomas of Hillsboro, Susan and Dale Pedersen of Vernonia, Dan and Marlene Jansen of Christmas Valley, a sister-in-law; Dorothy Jansen of Forest Grove, eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.\r

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in Pete's name to Visitation Catholic Cemetery or Visitation Catholic Church.\r

Irene Martha Jansen was born August 4, 2017, in Portland,
Oregon, the daughter of the late John B. McGinn and Irma (Koch) McGinn. She was raised and received her education in Cornelius and Hillsboro, having attended the Fernhill Grade School, south of Cornelius and the Hillsboro High School, graduating with the class of 1947. She was very active in school activities as she was a member of the Ski Club, the tennis team and the school band, having played the clarinet.
While attending high school she worked for the Fairway Market in Hillsboro. Upon her graduation she went to work for the West Coast Telephone Company, having worked as a switchboard supervisor.
She was united in marriage to Wilbur \"Pete\" Jansen on April 3, 1951, at Hillsboro, Oregon. They celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary this past April. After her marriage she worked for the Kindel Sausage Company in Verboort for several years. Irene also worked for the Papa Aldo's Take & Bake Pizza Shop in Forest Grove.
Following their marriage, they moved to the family farm in Verboort in 1951, having resided there for the past 38 years. Irene was an active working partner along with her husband and eldest son in the Wil-Rene Dairy Farm in Verboort.
Mrs. Jansen was raised in the Catholic Faith. During her younger years she was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Hillsboro. After moving to Verboort, she became a member of the visitation Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society and served on many committees for the annual Verboort Sausage Feed. She operated the Parish Center for many years, having helped design the kitchen.
Irene was also an active member of the 4-N-8'ers square dance club in Verboort and the 4-H Club, having served in Dairy for 12 years. Among her special interests she enjoyed raising flowers, yardwork and bowling.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Jansen on May 15, 1970, at Hillsboro, Oregon.
Mrs. Jansen died Monday evening, March 13, 1989, at the Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur \"Pete\" of the family home in Verboort; two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sherry Jansen; and Daniel Jansen all of Verboort; five daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia \"Patty\" and Byron Meadows of Salem, Oregon; Linda and Bruce Heintz of Portland, Oregon; Carolyn and Marvin Vanaken of Forest Grove, Oregon; Jackie and John Thomas of Beaverton, Oregon; and Susan Jansen of Verboort; a brother, Harry McGinn of Punta Gorda, Florida; and a sister, Rose McGinn of Herron Island, Washington.
• Also surviving are five grandchildren, Joshua and Angela Meadows of Salem, Oregon and Andy, Katie and Kristin Heintz of Portland, Oregon. and a very longtime special friend

JANET ANTONIA VERBOORT was born November 14, 1914 in Lebanon, Oregon, the daughter of William and Catherine (Hermens) Evers. She was one of eight children. She was raised on the family farm and received her early education in McMinnville. Janet graduated from Tillamook Catholic High School, where she lived during the school year. Following high school, Janet worked in Portland as a housekeeper.
She was united in marriage to Arthur J. “Art” Verboort on June 1, 1937 at the St. James Catholic Church in McMinnville, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home in the Verboort community. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Art, on February 17, 1991, after celebrating over fifty-three years of marriage.
Janet was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Visitation Catholic Church and had worked every Verboort sausage and kraut dinner, missing but one because of a new baby. Janet was spokesperson for the dinner and had been interviewed many times by the press. She was a member of the Visitation Altar Society.
Among her interests, Janet loved handywork of all kinds, sewing hundreds of potholders for the dinners, making quilts, afghans, etc. and mended everyones rips and tears. She also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and baking. Janet loved children and helped with their care to the very last. Her greatest joy in life was her family and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janet was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and sisters; and an infant daughter, Arnet Marie Verboort in 1955.
Janet passed away October 6, 2002 at the Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Portland. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Lois J. and Farren Kohler of Lincoln City; Nancy E. and Eugene Braukman of Cornelius; and Carol A. and David Leuthold of Tillamook; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lawrence A. and Judy Verboort of Forest Grove; and Todd A. Verboort of North Plains; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Ann Evers of Dayton; and Raymond and Eileen Evers of Eugene.
Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.**

Jane M. VanDyke, 85, a former longtime resident of the Verboort community, late of Hillsboro, died Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the Cornell Estates Retirement Community in Hillsboro.

A private family funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 19, 2020, at St. James Catholic Church in McMinnville, with Fr. Ben Tapia, of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Forest Grove, celebrant. Assisting will be Deacon Raul Rodriguez. A private family Rite of Christian Burial will follow at Visitation Cemetery in Verboort, with Fr. Michael Vuky, officiating.

Jane was born November 3, 1934, in Yamhill, Oregon, the daughter of the late Theodore “Ted” Bernards and Margaret “Maggie” (Hermens) Bernards. She was raised in the Yamhill community and attended St. James Catholic School in McMinnville. Jane continued her schooling at Yamhill-Carlton High School and was a graduate of the class of 1953.

She was united in marriage to Ervin VanDyke on November 11, 1953, in St. James Catholic Church in McMinnville. Following their marriage, they resided on the VanDyke family farm in Verboort for over forty years.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin on November 26, 1990, after celebrating over thirty-seven years of marriage together. She continued living on the family farm until 1999, when she moved to the Hillsboro community. In August 2015, Jane moved to the Cornell Estates Retirement Community, where she had resided since.

Jane was a homemaker while her children were young. Later, she worked as an elections clerk for Washington County for five years. Jane also worked as a bank teller for First Interstate Bank in Forest Grove for eighteen years, until the age of sixty, when she retired.

Jane was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. After moving to the Verboort community, she was an active member of Visitation Parish. She was a member of the Altar Society, treasurer of the Visitation Parish Cemetery Committee, trained mass servers and served as a eucharistic minister.

She was active in the community, volunteering with the Forest Grove Chamber of Commerce as well as serving as the volunteer travel coordinator for the Hillsboro Senior Center.

Among her special interests, Jane enjoyed traveling, camping, clam digging, crocheting, baking and bowling. In her later years, Jane enjoyed taking care of her flowers and hummingbirds.

Jane was also preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Maggie Bernards, her two sisters, Martha Juenemann and Theresa Anderson, and her six brothers, Robert, Don, Hubert, Ted, Larry and Norman Bernards.

Survivors include her son, Kevin VanDyke, of Portland, Oregon and her three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Herb VanderZanden, of Verboort Oregon; Beverly and Dave Schalk, of Wilsonville, Oregon and Jan and Steve Foltz, of Tigard, Oregon and her twin brother, John Bernards, of Hillsboro, Oregon.

Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and their spouses, Breeann and Jeff Strassel, of Cornelius Oregon; Aimee Nemeyer, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Cayla and Ryan Swift, currently serving in the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, California; Darcie VanDyke, of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Jenny and Kerry Meeuwsen, of Aloha, Oregon; Janel and Scott Campbell, of Scappoose,Oregon; Jill and Matthew Bilka, of Dundee, Oregon; Laura and Jake Gano, of West Linn, Oregon; Katelyn and Nick Carlson, of Portland, Oregon; Ryan Schalk, of Portland, Oregon; Elise Schalk, of Edinburgh, Scotland; Krista and Austin Hocker, of Eugene, Oregon and Megan Foltz, of Portland, Oregon; fourteen great-grandchildren and more than eighty nieces and nephews.

Jeannette G. Beachler (Meeuwsen), 89, a lifelong resident of Forest Grove died Friday morning January 19, 2018 at her home.

Jeannette was born in Roy Oregon Oct. 15, 1928. At a few months old she moved to Forest Grove and attended Forest Gove High School. She married Guy F. Beachler in 1971 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Forest Grove. Jeannette worked as the office manager for the City of Forest Grove for over 35 years.

Jeannette was very active with St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She loved to garden, travel and scrapbook. She touched many lives with her smile, endearing personality and generosity. She spent many hours volunteering and sponsored several charities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Theresa Meeuwsen, sister Eileen Vanderzanden, and brother Irvin Meeuwsen.

Survivors include her husband Guy Beachler, sister Bernice Kubitz, brothers Carl and Larry Meeuwsen; and 20 nieces and nephews.

GERVASE J. \"GERVE\" JANSEN was born February 23, 1918 in Verboort, Oregon, the son of Albert and Theodora (VanDyke) Jansen. He was raised and received his education in the Verboort community, graduating from Verboort High School. He was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Heesacker on August 12, 1941 in Roy, Oregon. They were married in Roy because the church in Verboort had burned down. Following their marriage they have made their home in Verboort. Their 58th Wedding Anniversary is next month. In 1939, Gerve starting working in the rock business. In 1959 he started his own business, \"Gerve Jansen Trucking\", which he ran until 1984 when he retired. Although he had officially retired, Gerve kept one truck until 1988. He was a lifelong member of the Visitation Catholic Church. In the 1930's, Gerve played baseball with the Tualatin Valley League. He also enjoyed playing softball and trapshooting. He was a handyman around the house. Work was important to Gerve and he always worked hard at whatever he was doing. Gerve was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Maurice Jansen and Vern Jansen; and a sister, Mary Hafner. Gerve died July 8, 1999 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Margaret M. \"Marge\" Jansen, of the family home in Verboort; a daughter, Millie Ault of Sacramento, California; two sons, Rick Jansen of Portland, Oregon and John Jansen of Verboort, Oregon; two brothers and sisters-inlaw, Pete and Marilyn Jansen of Verboort, Oregon; and Larry and Eileen Jansen of Verboort, Oregon; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Arlene Herinckx of Verboort, Oregon; and Marty and Pat Eberly of Veneta, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Jansen of Banks, Oregon; and Dorothy Jansen of Gaston, Oregon; a brother-in-law, Darol Hafner of Pacific, Washington; a granddaughter, Lynn Lord of Sacramento, California; a step-grandson, Jason Wisser of Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews. ****************************** The family suggests that remembrances be for mass offerings or to the Washington County Hospice, 427 SE 8th Avenue, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123, in his memory. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the cemetery rites, to be held in the Parish Center at the church.

William \"Bill\" Denton Jansen, 75, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on April 12, 2021 at his home.

William was born on February 4, 1946 in Forest Grove. He is the oldest of three children born to Delbert and Jeanette (Wilson) Jansen. He was raised in Forest Grove and attended Forest Grove High School graduating with the Class of 1964. He attended University of Oregon and received a Bachelor's degree in Arts.

He enlisted into the US military during the Vietnam War and served in Germany.

William had worked as a courier all of his life he retired from Stewart Stiles. He enjoyed reading, solitude and his family. He was a published poet and enjoyed philosophy and Shakespeare.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his two siblings and their spouses; Janet and Randy Morris of Frisco, TX, Kent and Susan Jansen Forest Grove, a niece; Allison, two nephews; Ryne & Jake, two grand nieces and one grand nephew.
